“8th hire at [famous company]”
What is the significance around listing the order in which you were hired at a company? Stating “8th hire at [famous company]” or “27th employee at [startup you’ve heard of]” in a professional bio doesn’t say much.
Imagine explaining that concept to an alien: “I list the order in which I was hired to work at a famous company. This ranking implies that I knew about the company (predicted its success even!) before most. Others validate me for my implied professional insider knowledge.”
Does that sound like an accurate depiction of why people list their hire order? Is it as clear to you as it is to me? Curious about other takes on this trendy line in LinkedIn profiles and other social media bios.
