The three ingredients required for joy

Joy is made up of three parts: alignment, self compassion and joie de vivre. Our most joyful life happens when we’re practicing all three. On the flip side, we can’t live a truly joyful life without all three. They’re an all-or-nuthin’ deal.

A recipe for the good life.

Let’s view these three ingredients as a map to greater joy. Where could you practice greater alignment, self compassion or joie de vivre right now? Start with one. Focus there. Today’s message is about spotlighting practical ways we can cultivate more joy. I’ll dive deeper into all three of these ingredients in the coming weeks/months. For now, take a few minutes to audit where you stand on these fronts.

  • Are the actions you take in a day — professionally, personally — in line with your deepest values?
  • Do you speak to yourself gently, like you would to a dear friend?
  • Are you savoring life, reveling in the beauty of being alive?

Go easy on yourself as you answer these. Joy and self flagellation cannot coexist.

Here to help you be a bright, shining joy beam!
