“To write is human, to edit is divine.”

Stephen King wrote that sentence in On Writing. Surely he knew it applied both to his craft and to life in general.

The past several months have been a life editing session for me. I‘ve felt called— divinely! — to remove Stuff that isn’t aligned with where I’m going (transformation phase… weeeee!). I’ve cleaned Stuff out of my closet, desktop, podcast app, spice cabinet, Instagram feed, photo folder, agenda, inboxes and bookshelf. I’ve dragged Stuff to the donation bin, trash folder, “unfollow” button and dumpster.

And I feel hella lighter.

Did I have a personal contact ask me why I wasn’t following her anymore on Instagram? Yes. “I’m editing out distractions,” I said.

And it feels so good.
